Kleev vs WeMoney: debt payoff and credit scores, or privacy and property?
WeMoney has built Australia's social debt-payoff app: free credit scores, subscription detection and a community over a million downloads strong. Kleev tracks your money without ever linking a bank account, and models investment property properly. We compare both as at July 2026 and call the choice honestly.

WeMoney is a Perth-built app that treats paying off debt as a social activity. You connect everything you owe, watch your credit scores from the major bureaus for free every month, find the subscriptions draining your account, and pay the debt down with a community alongside you.
The app has grown past a million downloads, and its iOS app holds a 4.5-star rating from more than five thousand reviews. In 2025 it raised a A$12 million Series A with Mastercard joining the round.
For a certain kind of money problem, WeMoney is the most motivating tool in Australia.
Kleev solves a different problem. You want a complete, categorised picture of your spending, property and net worth without giving anyone a live connection to your bank accounts, and you want your investment property treated as more than a number in a list.
Kleev has no feeds, no credentials and no ads. You upload CSV exports that parse in your browser, and paid plans fund the product.
If you're deep in debt payoff, WeMoney probably fits better. If you're building assets and guarding your data, keep reading.
The short version
- WeMoney wins on effortless syncing, free credit scores, debt tools and sheer momentum: community, scale, and Mastercard on the investor list.
- Kleev wins on privacy (no bank connection of any kind) and on property (a full loan, offset and cashflow module where WeMoney has none that we could find).
- The business models differ sharply. WeMoney is free with ads, referral offers and a Pro tier, and Kleev is web-based and funded by subscriptions.

How does your data get in, and who can see it?
WeMoney uses two connection methods. It's an accredited data recipient under the Consumer Data Right in its own right, so for supported banks, including newer ones like Up and ubank, you consent at your bank and no password changes hands.
That's the better of the two paths, and WeMoney deserves credit for holding the accreditation itself. For banks its CDR connections don't cover, WeMoney falls back to Yodlee, a credential-based screen-scraping service.
You type your banking login into the flow, and WeMoney states the details go directly to Yodlee and are never stored on WeMoney's own servers. Its privacy policy also notes data may be held in providers' data centres outside Australia, with possible disclosure to countries including the USA, UK, EU, Japan, Singapore and New Zealand.
The free app is ad-supported, so monetisation includes promotions from WeMoney or its preferred suppliers, plus debt-consolidation referrals under its credit licence.
How does Kleev get your data instead?
Kleev removes the question. There are no feeds and no third-party aggregator: you export a CSV from your own bank and drop it in, the file parses in your browser, and the raw file is never uploaded.
Two disclosures so the comparison stays fair. If Kleev doesn't recognise a CSV layout, the file name, headers and first five rows go to its AI provider to map the columns, and Kleev's AI features send transaction descriptions, dates, amounts and account names to Anthropic's Claude API.
There's no ad inventory and no referral commissions, and paid plans are the business model. If the trade between feeds and files is the part you're weighing, start with how to track spending without linking your bank account.

How do spending tracking and subscriptions compare?
Both apps show you where the money goes. They differ in how the data arrives and how it gets read.
WeMoney's transactions arrive automatically and are categorised through enrichment partners, with unlimited custom categories on Pro. It markets subscription detection front and centre, and a case study on its site cites a member saving $72 a month on discovered subscriptions.
The community features add accountability that genuinely helps some people stick with it. WeMoney has also tracked crypto balances since 2021.
How does Kleev read your spending?
Kleev's transactions arrive by CSV and get read by AI. That covers roughly 42 categories, learned merchant aliases, transfer detection so money moving between your own accounts doesn't count as spending, and recurring-charge detection that surfaces subscriptions with their billing cadence.
Cleaner categories in means better answers out, including a monthly CFO report and an AI chat that can answer questions about your own transactions on paid plans. Kleev won't notify you on your phone, because there's no phone app, so you get depth on a bigger screen instead of immediacy in your pocket.
Is WeMoney better than Kleev for property?
We found no investment-property features in WeMoney. Nothing for property tracking, loan amortisation, offsets or rental cashflow appears anywhere on its site, its Pro page or its store listings as at July 2026, and we found no tax features either.
That's not a criticism of its mission, because a debt-payoff app has different priorities. It does settle this comparison if property is in your picture.
How does Kleev model a property?
Kleev gives each property its loans with amortisation, offset accounts with three kinds of what-if projection, a statement grid reconciling years of interest and repayments, cashflow with offset netting, valuations and expenses.
If your property currently lives in a spreadsheet, we've compared spreadsheets against apps for property tracking honestly. Kleev describes your own data and does not give financial advice.
What do they cost?
As at July 2026, WeMoney's core app is free with ads, and WeMoney Pro is A$9.99 a month with a 7-day free trial. No annual price is shown.
Pro removes ads and adds unlimited custom categories, the desktop view, daily Equifax fraud alerts and automatic goal tracking.
What does Kleev cost?
Kleev's free tier covers about 1,000 transactions a month and one property. Pro is A$3.99 a week billed A$15.96 every 4 weeks (or A$176.28 a year) and Max is A$4.99 a week billed A$19.96 every 4 weeks (or A$220.48 a year), with a 14-day trial on first subscription and a one-off A$67.69 founding offer for lifetime Max.
WeMoney is the cheaper subscription. Part of what Kleev's price buys is the absence of the ad-and-referral model altogether.

So which one should you choose?
- Choose WeMoney if: paying off debt is your current mission. The combination of automatic feeds, free credit scores, fraud alerts and community is genuinely built for that job.
- Choose WeMoney if: you want zero-effort syncing across many accounts and you're comfortable with the CDR-plus-Yodlee model and an ad-supported free tier.
- Choose Kleev if: you don't want any app holding a connection to your bank, let alone credentials passing through a screen-scraper for unsupported banks.
- Choose Kleev if: you own or are buying an investment property. WeMoney has nothing here; Kleev was largely built for it.
- Choose Kleev if: you'd rather pay a subscription than be shown offers, and you want EOFY-ready records and AI reads of your own spending.
WeMoney inherited a good chunk of the audience that Pocketbook left behind, and for debt-focused users it has more than earned that inheritance.
If you're past the debt phase and into the building phase, that's what Kleev was made for. Our 2026 money-app roundup covers the wider field, including PocketSmith, Frollo, YNAB and Billroo.

Common questions
Is WeMoney free?
WeMoney's core app is free and ad-supported, with unlimited account connections, spending tracking, monthly credit scores, goals and community included. WeMoney Pro costs A$9.99 a month (as at July 2026, with a 7-day free trial) and adds ad removal, unlimited custom categories, a desktop view, daily Equifax credit fraud alerts and automatic goal tracking.
Does WeMoney store your bank login?
It depends on your bank. For banks covered by its Consumer Data Right connections, you consent at your own bank and no credentials change hands. For other banks, WeMoney syncs through Yodlee, a screen-scraping provider: WeMoney states your banking login details are never stored on its own servers and that credentials go directly to Yodlee. Kleev takes a different approach entirely, with no feeds and no credentials: you upload CSV files that parse in your browser.
Does WeMoney track investment property?
We found no investment-property features in WeMoney: no property tracking, loan amortisation, offset modelling or property cashflow appears on its site, its Pro page or its app-store listings as at July 2026. Kleev's property module covers per-property loans, offset accounts with what-if projections, a statement grid, cashflow, valuations and expenses.
Should I use WeMoney or Kleev to pay off debt?
If motivation and momentum are what you need, WeMoney is built for exactly that: debt tracking, free credit scores from the major bureaus, a supportive community, and consolidation options under its own credit licence. Kleev shows every loan, repayment and interest charge clearly in your transaction history, but it doesn't gamify payoff or offer credit products. Debt-first users are the group we'd most readily point to WeMoney.
Can I import a CSV into WeMoney?
We found no evidence of CSV import in WeMoney on any page we checked as at July 2026; the app is built around connected accounts. Kleev is the reverse: CSV upload is the entire ingestion model, files parse in your browser, and no bank connection exists at all.
